The Embassy of Switzerland in Nairobi has published a tender for the Regional Culture Programme Horn of Africa. The tender is divided in two lots with the opportunity to apply for one or both lots. Lot 1: To conduct a mapping exercise of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage, including Somali language in order to inform the interventions that will contribute to their safeguarding. Lot 2: To carry out a deeper Market System Development (MSD) assessment of the culture markets, including associations such as women handicraft associations to enhance understanding of the culture and creative market systems. This information will form the basis of the interventions.
To achieve the above goals, SDC seeks to engage implementing partner(s) who will carry out the above assessments and thereafter implement the programme. This programme will not only go a long way in preserving tangible and intangible culture in the target areas of Somalia, including Somaliland, North Eastern Kenya and South Eastern Ethiopia, but also trigger dialogue, opportunities for development, by not only creating jobs for the youth, women and marginalised groups in the culture sector, but also opening up new investment opportunities within the sector.
Implementation date: The estimated duration of the whole mandate is 8 years (2024-2031) with a 6 months inception phase (01.07.2023 to 31.12.2023), core services 2024-2027 and optional services for another 4 years, 2028-2031.
Location where the service is to be delivered: At risk regions of the Horn of Africa, mainly Somalia (including Somaliland), North-Eastern Kenya and South-Eastern Ethiopia.
