Kiambaa Dairy Farmers Co-operative Society Limited was formed in the colonial era and duly registered on the 26th January 1963 as a Dairy co-operative under The Co-operative Society Rules, 1946. The Society was formed by farmers within Kiambaa area with an objective of coming together and bulking their milk produce so as to reach better rewarding markets and have an upper hand in mobilization of resources for competitive advantage. Since then, the Society has withered difficult storms such as poor milk handling procedures, poor marketing strategies and poor management but has managed to stand tall up to the present day. During the time the Society experienced loss of market opportunities and withdrawal of members but it also experienced growth by both revenue and assets. So far it has good cooling machines and tanks, a well maintained fleet of vehicles, a reliable power back-up system (Generator) and a reliable source of water for better hygienic conditions while handling milk. It has also been able to open up animal feeds stores where its members can easily access concentrates and mineral supplements at competitive prices. The society has since started value addition strategy where it produces high quality yoghurt (Dafina) and pasteurized milk. The Society has also made significant strides in computerizing its operations and hire competent staff who are regularly trained. The Society is governed by a Board of Management which consists of 9 members while the supervisory committee has 3 members. Current the society’s work force consist of 60 members of staff.Qualifications, Skills & Experience
